Melamine Foam is an extremely lightweight, open-cell material which is incredibly resistant to heat. Melamine also has low flame transmission and smoke properties. Melamine Foam does not drip in the presence of a flame. It stops burning immediately after removal of external ignition source and fuel. It is recommended for acoustical and thermal insulation. Melamine Foam is available with film facings and adhesive backings. Please note: facing options and adhesive backings are made to order and have a 2 week lead time. (ASTME84 Class 1A, Nonflammable) NRC .65.
It can be used in applications for up to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition to the fire resistant properties, the foam has exceptional sound deadening qualities and can be used for applications in which sound absorbing is important. Melamine is available with an assortment of facings that allow it to achieve greater fire resistance and reinforcement.
